Target audience: Veterinarians interested in learning about honey bees to gain confidence in diagnosing disease issues, understanding how the FDA’s VFD rule affects honey bees, and establishing a VCPR with a beekeeper.
Classroom topics: How the FDA ruling affects vets and bees; honey bee biology; beekeepers and beekeeping products; how to work in a bee colony; inspecting a colony for diseases, pests, and other issues; and antibiotic use in honey bees.
Field topics: Learn how to work in live bee colonies; identify parts of a colony; identify diseases, pests, and other issues; how to sample for disease; and how to send disease samples to a diagnostic lab.
Field protection gear will be provided. You should wear socks and close-toed shoes. Avoid scented shampoo, soap etc.
This class is limited to Veterinarians.
